Funded Industrial PhD Opportunities (Industrial Postgraduate Programme)

The Industrial Postgraduate Programme (IPP) is a fully funded PhD programme provided by the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) and Enterprise Singapore (ESG). The programme supports companies to build a pool of postgraduate manpower with critical R&D skillsets in preparation for R&D roles in the industry. NewRIIS is approved by EDB and ESG as a research institute partner in the programme. We provide academic input and research supervision for IPP research degrees.

Concurrently, IPP aims to help companies attract highly skilled doctorate/graduate talent to fill their R&D roles. The incentive allows companies to fund trainees pursuing their doctorate/graduate studies based on projects jointly scoped out by the company and the company’s chosen university partner.

The grant will last up to four years (full-time) for PhD programme and two years (full-time) for MPhil programme in NewRIIS and are available in the following disciplines:

  • chemical engineering and advanced materials
  • marine and offshore engineering
  • naval architecture
  • mechanical and system design
  • electrical and power engineering
  • AI and machine learning
  • Energy systems and sustainability
