MSc in Process Safety and Risk Management
Programme Details
The Master of Science in Process Safety and Risk Management is designed to enable students to understand the overarching requirement of compliance to legislation and to instil into students, the knowledge and skills in measuring and quantifying safety levels, hazardous emissions and exposure levels, and to design and operate inherently safer plants using specialist knowledge and skills.
The programme aims to train students to be competent professionals in the health and safety profession, to enable students to obtain an accredited postgraduate degree qualification for better career development and to enable students to develop a deeper understanding across the broad subject of process safety and risk management.

Minimum Entry Requirements
- First degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent engineering qualification with minimum second lower classification (2.2)
- Candidates without a Bachelor Degree with at least 8 years of working experience and is at least 30 years old will also be considered on a case by case basis
English Language Requirement
English Language Entry Requirements : IELTS overall 6.5 or equivalent
Exemption: You do not need to prove your English ability if you meet one of the criteria in this page.

Learning Outcomes
The programme provides opportunities for students to develop and demonstrate knowledge, understanding, skills and other attributes associated with Process Safety and Risk Management.
A successful student will be equipped with:

Understanding of legislation, standards and regulations related to process safety, occupational health and environmental emissions and impact.

Understanding and knowledge of physical, chemical and biological hazards.

Advanced knowledge and skills to measure and quantify hazards and risks.

Advanced knowledge in the underpinning science and engineering skills to design inherently safer engineering equipment and processes.
- Advanced knowledge and skills in ensuring process plants operate safely and workers are provided with safe environment to work.Advanced knowledge and skills in responding to catastrophic failure and emergency release.
